Mandela Institute of Development Studies (MINDS) will be hosting the MINDS 2018 African Democracy Dialogue Series centred around Zimbabwe’s democracy beyond the elections from 8th – 9thNovember 2018, at Wits School of Governance (Donald Gordon Auditorium), in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The thematic focus of the dialogue is “Reigniting Hope for Democracy Beyond Elections Zimbabwe. The dialogue is built to create a platform for collective reflection and consensus building among citizens, politicians, media specialists, academics, scholars, government representatives and other key stakeholders on the emerging character of democracy in Zimbabwe.
The dialogue will unpack the challenges confronting Zimbabwe’s democracy in translating electoral outcomes into social and economic outcomes for citizens; explore the relationship between a democratic and secure state in building a stable, inclusive and participatory political government; as well as proffering innovative economic and development approaches for revitalising and sustaining the Zimbabwe fledgling democracy.
