29th March 2015
On the 26th and 27th March 2015 of March 2015, the Mandela Institute for Development Studies (MINDS) hosted the North Africa Regional Training Workshop in Civic Education on Elections and Governance. The workshop was hosted in the city of Gammarth, Tunisia where participants from neighbouring countries were invited to attend.
Eagle Ayed Group Founder, Mr. Noureddine Ayed joined participants for a formal dinner after the training, where he offered wisdom, insight and encouragement to the attendees.
The first day’s event covered topics such as types and indicators of democracy, the electoral cycle as well as an introduction to the African Charter. Day two’s events looked at issues surrounding stakeholder engagement; defining stakeholders and power, effective communication and designing a communication strategy.
One of the objectives of the civic education workshop is to facilitate open learning and training on African elections and governance. The workshop is one of the two events hosted by MINDS under its Youth Program. The program addresses the challenges and opportunities that the youth of Africa need to acknowledge when it comes to governance affairs in Africa.
